The best macro split for weightloss

Just recently at SC Vital Fitness, we have found that the trend in the fitness industry is that to lose weight you need to workout your macro splits.

.

These are the food groups required to keep your body at an optimal function – Proteins, Fat & Carbs

.

AKA – Lean meats, oils/nuts & Rice/Pasta/Spuds.

.

Counting macros is similar to counting calories, except it differs on where the calories come from.

.

So this has been put together to give you an idea of what split works best

.

Lets start by letting you into a secret …

.

How much you eat, matters more than your bro split of proteins, fats and carbs

.

In one year a study, 600 randomized overweight people where put on a low carb or a low fat diet, both groups reduced their calories by 500-600 calories a day

.

At the end the low carb diet lost 6kg and the low fat lost 5.3kg a mere difference of 3 kg over a year!

.

In another study, 645 randomized overweight people, were randomly assigned different macro splits, to see which split had the greatest effect on weight loss.

.

Guess what…? The random groups all had similar amounts of weight loss over 2 years

.

These results point to the fact that any macro split as long as in a calorie deficit will bring about the same amount of weight loss

.

In Summary, no matter what macro split, food intake you are having, as long as you eat slightly less (deficit in calories) you will lose weight.

.

Top tip: Stop lying about your food intake, take some responsibility and please don’t blame others. (Our advice is to prioritise protein as this will keep you fuller for longer)
