1. Stop hanging out with atmosphere hoovers.
An atmosphere hoover is that person in your life who is mentally draining, the one that has an issue with the world and likes to have all the energy focused on them and doesn’t really care what is going on in your life, they suck the atmosphere out of every room (just like a hoover!)
2.Stop taking care of everyone else and leaving yourself till last
Be a bit more selfish and make yourself a priority for once. You don’t need to be a dick and ignore everyone else in your life, just start looking after Number 1 (you) this is why aircraft deploy oxygen masks and say look after yourself first….it is so in the long term, the ones you really care about will benefit.
3. Make it so.
Take a leap of faith and do something that you have been putting off, get a coach (Gym, Life, Businesss), go on holiday, (or eat some donughts)…just do something that you have been putting off.
I hear ya, “but I will have to change things around” ….this goes back to the point above, make some time for yourself. IT’S ALL ABOUT BALANCE.
4. Be yourself and let the real you come to the surface.
This is something I have personally struggled with (until recently). Trying to be something you are not.
Look, the world needs to see the real you, the one who put you on this journey, the one that makes the decisions. Stop being fake and meaningless.
The end result is that you will attract the people that you want to work with. This in itself is FUCKING liberating!
BONUS – Don’t be afraid to say no!
5. Take Notice of things
Stop, take a look around and take in what is going on, if you don’t, you will never get the moment back and will soon regret it. Experience as much of life as possible.
6. Write down who you really are (Be honest)
Get brutal and put down on paper what you like and dislike about who you are. Your Strengths/Weaknesses.
This will make you realise a few things and you will se the thing that is holding you back, the thing that makes you keep quiet, when in reality you should be shouting from the roof tops.
7. Show that you are happy with other successful people.
Never get jealous about someone else’s achievements, do you think it was easy for them to get to where they are…? (NOPE) they worked hard and deserve to be where they are. Concentrate on your own success; if you do, then people will more than likely love it when you become successful.
8. Stress less
This is not the easiest thing to do, especially when you work so hard to become successful and provide for your family. The thing is, if you don’t get your stress and work-life balance under control, you won’t be there to experience all that success with the ones you love.
My Thoughts on STRESS - This is something that is often talked about in the fitness industry, however, this only applies if you have a certain amount of success that enables you to take time away….what I mean is, don’t be fucking lazy, because you think you have made it.

Stress produces hormonal changes enabling the body to perform better quickly to deal with the stress, the fight or flight response.
However, chronic stress, from poor nutrition and sleep habits, negative relationships, hectic work schedules, or overtraining all lead to constant hormonal changes that have a negative effect on the body, such as - body tightness, high blood pressure, no training gains (other than round the middle), and general laziness.
Whilst balancing a full time degree, a full time job, a complete house renovation, on top of rehabbing a knee injury i sometimes get STRESSED!
Sure I have the odd moment when I’m not as nice as I should be to the people I really care about, which all comes down to recovery and coping mechanisms. After all stress only becomes a bad thing when we don’t sufficiently recover from it. So, here’s how I do it.
This is how I am able to not break down into tears each time something doesn’t quite go to plan, which makes the stress levels more manageable.
TOP TIP: Adding more stress by going on a ‘diet’ or starting an intensive new exercise programme should not even be contemplated.
You all know what’s stressing you out, so why not do something about it to ensure you are recovering from it as this can be what separates those that excel with stress, and those that crumble underneath it.

The sooner people realise this, the better. You work hard but get no acknowledgement, you don’t get paid what you feel you deserve, your relationship is falling apart, you can’t afford to buy the Christmas presents you want to, your family don’t listen to you, your friends are way more successful.
Well boo fucking hoo.
In my experience, life can be pretty complicated.
Although most of us have plenty to manage in our day-to-day lives—jobs, relationships, family, exercise, sleep, you name it—there are really only a few things we truly have control over.
I have reframed a lot of my life by identifying these variables and learning how to master them. And I think you can too. When times are hard I find it comforting and rewarding to revert back to the things I can control. I can control how often I train.
I don’t know about you, but I feel my best during and after I train. Exercising is a chance to just focus on my lifting and think about nothing. It's simply ‘me time’. You don't have to go to the gym every day, but we all ought to take 20 minutes out of our days, to get up and move.
Motion helps free your mind and body to better tap into your creative potential. I can control how I talk to myself. We all have a voice in our heads. That voice can often be critical and get in the way of our happiness and achievement. Try chatting to yourself with compassion, it’s hard to start with trust me!
For example, instead of telling yourself you’re not good enough, remind yourself that you are worthy of love and care, or that it’s okay to make slipups—one of my mantras is that ‘we fail forwards’. I can control what I put in my mouth.
Even though it might taste great, junk food will only make matters worse. It makes your brain and body slow and sad. Consuming too much sugar has been linked to all kinds of medical conditions (including metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease), not to mention mood swings and crashes that kill productivity.
Simple fixes like keeping chopped veggies or a satiating protein handy help us pick the healthier choice when we're depleted and hungry rather than reaching for the closest snack. Think nutrient dense, single ingredients not processed crap.
I can control when I go to sleep/how much sleep I have. Sleep is critical for focus, concentration, job and academic performance, keeping your appetite under control, and a host of other positive health outcomes. In order to hack sleep, you have to set a routine.
Mine goes exactly like this - I have a green tea every evening around 9.15pm, go up to bed at 10pm and never take my mobile upstairs in the house, keeping all distractions out of the bedroom. I'm asleep by 10.30pm and I wake before 7.00am every day.
The body loves routine, treat it. I can ALWAYS be grateful for what I DO have. By practicing being grateful on a daily basis, your happiness and productivity will increase. Cultivating gratitude helps to train us to focus on hope, to remain inspired, and to be optimistic.
It also lends us the courage and resilience to persevere in the face of adversity and tuff times.
What are you grateful for today?
Life is unfair but I refuse to allow it to stop me being the best I can be and I encourage you to take the same stance. I will never accept that feeling average is ok and I will always believe in the process.
